Champagne

The drink of celebration:
Champagne - inspiring celebration and joy, no other drink than that Marne Valley’s luxury can capture the romance and euphoria of a single festive moment.

Prestigious and Famed: When it comes to Champagne, tradition is meaningful. This success stems from 3 decades of constant quality research and smart business strategy. «Montagne de Reims», «Vallée de la Marne», «Côte des Blancs» are the 3 main growing regions that structure the Champagne vineyards. The surrounding blocks of lands, including the Côte des Bars, extend into the Aube’s department.

The grape-growing area of the Champagne appellation lies some 90 miles North-West of Paris and encompasses some 35,000 hectares. Formed by going back in time to the cretaceous beginnings, its unique soil structure is predominantly chalky (stays moist deep down creating a permanent reservoir for the vines) with a clay-limestone surface layer. The Aube is mostly marl.

During the early Middle-ages, the Champenois got its great vineyard reputation. From Paris to St-Petersburg, Monarchs, princes, statesmen cherished the nectar. “Their spirits sparkled like the wines of Champagne” had been said about Napoleon’s guests: the Champagne had become the choice of the rich and important.

"In defeat I need it, in victory I deserve it”: Whether attributed to Bonaparte, to W. Churchill or C. Pol-Roger, this quote aptly express the world’s behavior towards Champagne. Actually, life itself is a worthy celebration, isn’t it? Every day is a victory and we learn the most from our defeats. So, let’s break the seal and enjoy that fine bubbles.

Often imitated but never bettered, remember that this celebratory drink is also the most refined of the sparkling wines.
